Pathway Program

The Pathway Program provides state-identified athletes with additional training and competition opportunities, focusing on both on- and off-field development in line with Hockey NSW's Big 5 principles. Tailored by age group to meet specific timelines and development needs, the program ensures a smooth transition to the National Championships, enabling NSW to compete at the highest level. While participation is strongly encouraged, it will not influence current or future selection.

Regional Academies Pathway Program (U16s and U18s)

The NSW Regional Acaedmies of Sport (RAS) has partnered with Hockey NSW to deliver a pathway program for U16 and U18s. Hockey NSW provides support and resources for the RAS program to assist in developing pre-elite hockey players.

The purpose of the RAS hockey programs is to:

  • Provide an environment for the athletes to develop and progress to Hockey NSW State teams
  • Give access to quality performance support services and programs as athletes progress through Hockey NSW pathways
  • Prepare athletes for the upcoming Hockey season, including State and National tournaments
  • Provide a development pathway for aspiring coaches, and umpires with the support of Hockey NSW

Regional Academies of Sport programs are intended to provide an integrated step to the Hockey NSW Athlete Pathway. Athletes not currently identified by Hockey NSW are highly encouraged to nominate and trial in their respective region.

For nomination information regarding athlete inclusion and coach, and umpire development, please contact your local Academy, as a matter of priority.
