Hockey NSW is excited to announce the New Balance Centre of Development registration is NOW OPEN for the 2023-24 program!
Published Mon 18 Sep 2023
The New Balance Centre of Development Program is a program for children between the ages of 10 and 14. It provides an opportunity for kids to learn and develop basic hockey skills by providing 20 hours of high-level coaching in their home region over the summer months.
The New Balance Centre of Development Program is a holistic hockey program delivered in a fun and social way without the stress of a competitive hockey environment. It has been developed as a retention program within the Hockey NSW participation framework. For the first time this program will have a specific curriculum written by Brent Livermore to ensure a level of consistency at all centres across NSW.
The COD Program culminates with the largest event on Hockey NSW's calendar, the New Balance Regional Challenge, to be held at the Newcastle International Hockey Centre in early March 2024. The format for the Regional Challenge this year will be Hockey 5's.
The program is attended by over 1000 junior participants across the State from October to March each year. Some training centres have limited places and spots will fill up quickly, so we encourage participants to register as soon as possible.
“The New Balance Centre of Development is an important program to support the development of players, coaches and officials. The program is open to everyone interested to continue to learn, develop and importantly have fun. The New Balance Regional Challenge is the premier junior event on the Hockey NSW calendar as is focused on fun and enjoying hockey in a supportive environment. I am confident that the changes we are introducing to the program will lead to an enhanced experience by all participants. “ – Emma Highwood, CEO, Hockey NSW.
