Sultana Bran Hockey One League 2022 Season – Round 5 NSW Pride v Brisbane Blaze Preview

Published Thu 27 Oct 2022

Things are starting to heat up as teams try to cement their place or stay in contention for an all important top four finals spot as the Sultana Bran Hockey One League enters Round 5.

The round is headlined by the highly anticipated Men’s encounter between NSW Pride and Brisbane Blaze on Friday night in what is a repeat of the inaugural Hockey One League Men’s Grand Final.

NSW Pride capped off a remarkable and dominant season by winning the 2019 decider and have won three on the bounce so far in this campaign.

However, the Blaze, who have been bolstered by the inclusion of Kookaburras midfielder Daniel Beale for his first game of the season, will fancy their chances.

The Women’s match is just as intriguing. A NSW Pride win would almost guarantee a top four spot and leave the Blaze in a precarious position outside the four, especially if Canberra Chill and Perth Thundersticks (currently in third and fourth respectively) both win.

Despite falling to HC Melbourne at home last Saturday night, the Blaze Women go into the match with NSW Pride unchanged and confident their best is good enough to beat anyone.

Tickets are available through Ticketek or available at the gate on the night.
