Port Macquarie Hastings Hockey Association's new Club House facility is now complete. The new facility includes significant lanscaping work, 74 new carparking spaces (including 4 disabled spaces) and a new Club House with disabled access, new toilet and changerooms (including uni-sex and ambulant toilets), meeting and board rooms, seating, kiosk, bar and all weather covered viewing areas.
Federal Member for Cowper Pat Conaghan joined Port Macquarie Hastings Hockey Asssociation President Simon Thresher to officially open the facility and celebrate the upgrade with the Port Maquarie Hastings Hockey Community. Hockey NSW GM Business Development and Government Relations, Richard Giffiths, also attended the celebrations.
Pat Conaghan and Simon Thresher planted 6 Buckinghamia trees and understory foliage in honour of the legacy of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and her 70 years of service to Australia and the Commonwealth. This initative was established by the Coalition Government's grant program in the lead up to the Queen's Jubilee prior to her death. The program enables each Federal electorate around the country to plant the trees in honour of the Queen.
Hockey NSW would like to thank the Federal Member for Cowper Pat Conaghan who secured $1.45 million as an election commitment in 2019, with an additional $200,000 secured in 2022 to cater for increases in building and supply costs over the three-year period resulting from COVID-19 pressures. During that time, the Hockey Community has raised another $200,000 for the finishing touches and local businesses and consultants have supplied $30,000 of works in kind.
