Hockey NSW Welcomes the New 2023 Members to the NSW Men's Masters Hockey Committee
Published Mon 20 Mar 2023
Hockey NSW are pleased to announce the new appointments to the 2023 NSW Men's Masters Hockey Committee - Glen Pearce, Edward Gallagher and Kevin Beaton. Hockey NSW are excited to work with these fresh eyes, perspectives and capabilities to benefit the Committee as well as the general Hockey space. We're looking forward to gaining a shared sense of purpose and embracing positivity towards new ways of working.
Whilst this is an exciting shift for Hockey NSW, we would like to acknowledge and thank the former Chairman Andrew Terrey and his Secretary Stephen Hollier for their years of service in the NSW Men's Masters Hockey Committee as they step down from their roles.
"I was chairman from 2009 to 2013. Five years. I was asked by HNSW board in late 2008 to become chairman when the subcommittee was formed and was involved in writing the first charter. I stood down for two years.
In 2016, I became Chairman again when no one else was willing to take it on. I was then Chairman for six years and a further one year after the CEO David Thomspon asked me to do another year to bed down the new charter changes," said former Chairman Andrew Terrey.
Stephen Hollier also served on the board for many years, being a NSW Masters selector for ten years and four years as an Australian selector. He has just completed his six years term on the NSW Masters subcommittee (Uniforms officer) and took over the Secretary role when the incumbent Secretary finished his role. Stephen Hollier also played Hockey for many years since 2008 in the Sydney competition, Sydney Master’s rep-teams and eleven years playing in state teams at the Australian championships.
Hockey NSW CEO, Emma Highwood, thank the two men for their contributions to Men's Masters Hockey.
“On behalf of Hockey NSW and the board I would like to thank Andrew and Stephen for their contributions to Men’s Masters Hockey. They have both collectively put many volunteer hours into the game, and I would like to acknowledge their efforts and commitment.
I wish both Andrew and Stephen all the best, and hope they will continue to stay involved in the game they both love”, said Highwood.

"My hockey journey started out in Tamworth juniors and it was also Tamworth who introduced me to Masters hockey and State championships. Last year I had the opportunity to be part of a Masters team made up of blokes I was at school with 30 years before. A reunion of the 1986 Wales Cup winning team.
Having played for NSW Masters at the 40’s, 45’s and 50’s age groups, I possess a desire to grow the game and see NSW back on top at the championship level.
As a senior business leader and Agile executive coach there are many capabilities that I possess that should serve NSW Masters hockey well in the coming years. My passion for leadership, communication and business agility are three areas. Having had rep coordinator roles with NWSHA and as a director SMHA I have also had the opportunity to work closely in growing the game in Sydney."

"I am thrilled to join the Hockey NSW Men's Masters Committee, as it is my opportunity to engage with like-minded individuals in giving back to the sport that has given me so much joy over the years. I look forward to integrating my experiences in playing Masters Hockey, managing Masters teams, and being a director of SMHA to contribute to the growth and development of masters hockey in NSW.
I have been on the Sydney Masters Hockey Association Board, in the role of Director of Administration, since 2020. In that time we have actively engaged with and sought feedback from members, brought in new clubs and increased participation numbers.
My commercial and legal experience should assist the committee in achieving its objectives, whilst adhering to the appropriate framework and taking into account Men’s Masters extensive list of stakeholders."

"I have been playing Hockey since the age of 6, firstly in the Illawarra before moving to the Central Coast in 2000. I have been blessed to have represented HNSWMM since 2007 and have attended 2 World Master’s Games in 2009 and 2013, winning both times.
I have been involved in club and association committee’s since I was 16. I have also held the position of Central Coast Master’s Coordinator for the last 15 years.
I feel with my previous management roles within business and now running my own for the last 7 years I can bring some of these new ideas and strategies to this committee and help increase our participation rates to new levels."
