Michael Irby Reaches 1,000 Games for Sydney University Hockey Club

On Saturday the 1st of July, Michael “Bott” Irby (aka Mick) ran out with Sydney University Hockey Club’s 4th Grade team to play in his 1000th game for the Club.
Michael joined Sydney University Hockey Club (SUHC) in April 1988, has scored 120 goals for the club and 532 people have been his past or present SUHC teammates. He has represented Australia 11 times in Masters teams, including as captain, and has represented and captained NSW teams 19 times. He has also held numerous roles within SUHC including Club Captain.
Michael has received numerous honours including Life Membership at both SUHC and Sydney Masters Hockey Association. The latter named the Sydney Masters 3rd Grade competition trophy after him in recognition and is now known as the Michael Irby Premiership Cup. Michael has also been awarded a University Gold Award from SUSF for his significant contribution to the Club and has been named SUSF’s Club Person of the Year.
Hockey NSW CEO, Emma Highwood, congratulated Michael on reaching this milestone.

SUHC is planning a ceremony at their home turf, the Bruce Pryor Hockey Field, on Saturday 12 August to honour Michael's achievement. Everyone is welcome to attend to congratulate "Bott" on his exceptional milestone. Keep an eye on SUCH social media for more details to come.
