Hockey NSW Welcomes Two New Board Members

Published Sat 29 Mar 2025

Hockey NSW is pleased to introduce two new faces to the Board following elections at the 2025 members Annual General Meeting (AGM) today.

During the AGM, the two new board Directors were elected in accordance with the Hockey NSW Constitution. Luke Fleming and Martin Belci were both elected by the Member Associations to a three-year term on the Board.

Luke Fleming comes onto the Board with a strong business background and is currently Director of Human Resources at the ICC. He has had a long involvement in hockey as a player, administrator, and coach, including as a Board Member at Sydney East Hockey Association and as a coach of various NSW state teams.

Martin Belci has worked for many years in the finance and banking sector and is a Director at JRD Finance & Consulting. Martin started playing hockey in South Australia and then move into the officials ranks, as an umpire and more recently as a TO, in Sydney and at state and national championship events.

Luke and Martin will no doubt bring in fresh ideas and perspectives to help drive the success of Hockey NSW in 2025 and beyond. They both bring an in-depth understanding of the sport, as well as important links to key stakeholders and the community.

Hockey NSW would like to congratulate the 2025 Board members and are looking forward to their positive contributions to the ongoing growth and success of the organisaiton and the sport more broadly.

In doing so, we would like to thank our outgoing Board member Gareth Hogan who came to the end of his first term as a Director and decided not to stand for re-election. Gareth has brought much knowledge and experience in sports management to the Board and has been a voice of reason. His governance and leadership skills have been so very much appreciated, and we wish him well for the future.

An enormous thank you also goes to outgoing Director for two terms and President for four years, Adriana Care. Corinne Rochester, Hockey NSW Vice-President, acknowledged Ms Care and said ‘Adriana has made a fantastic contribution as a Director and a leader of the Board. In what has been a challenging period with the impact of COVID 19 and in an incredibly competitive NSW sporting sector, she has been a steady hand and has made a huge personal contribution in terms of time, commitment, and insight. We thank her sincerely and wish her well.’

In reflecting on her time as President she said, ‘I would like to thank the hockey ecosystem across New South Wales. I have served as a Board member for six years, four as President and feel privileged to have been entrusted with the responsibility to lead and be part of a committed volunteer Board whose members have always acted in the best interests of the game. There have been many challenges along the way and plenty of success stories to celebrate and I am optimistic that Hockey NSW and hockey across the state is well placed to grow and prosper into the future.’

The Hockey NSW Board will now come together to elect a new President.
