Published Fri 28 Apr 2023

Hockey NSW is pleased to announce the strategy for the next 3 years, aligned with Hockey Australia's National strategy.

Hockey NSW' vision is to inspire the NSW community to connect, play and reach their potential in hockey. Our mission is to build active, inclusive and connected communities through hockey. The 2023-2026 strategic plan will help achieve this.

The strategy has four pillars: Growth, Sustainability, Pathway, Promotion.

The Growth pillar will be a major focus as we prioritise targeting Junior participation across the State. Hockey NSW CEO, Emma Highwood, said she's excited to launch the Hockey NSW Strategy with a focus on growing the game.

"I am excited to launch the Hockey NSW Strategy. The strategy has been developed to focus on growth, to ensure that Hockey is adapting to changes in the community and continues to focus on recruiting new players to the game, while creating a sustainable foundation, supporting talented players, and increasing the awareness and promotion of the game", said Highwood.

Highlights of the new strategic initiatives include:

  1. Introduction of Hockey 5’s as a tool attract new participants.
  2. Centralised and consistent approach to schools.
  3. Focus on the Junior Hockey delivery including Hook into Hockey.
  4. PRIDE Talent Development Programs across the State.
  5. New Facility Strategy linked to Growth.
  6. Introduction of Regional Development Hubs across the State- introducing a new way of working with Associations.
  7. Commercial Plan aimed at Diversifying revenue.
  8. Hockey One and NSW Pride positioned to increase awareness of Hockey.

"I am looking forward to working with the Hockey Community to continue the development of the game at all levels. This is an exciting period for the Green and Gold decade as we lead into the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane. This strategy has been designed to ensure Hockey in NSW is positioned to take full advantage of this once in a generation opportunity", said Highwood.
