Hockey NSW is pleased to announce the appointment of Adriana Care as Hockey NSW President after she was elected by her fellow Directors at their most recent Board meeting.
Adriana has served on the Hockey NSW Board since 2019 and brings a wealth of professional and executive experience to the role. She is the current Managing Partner of Coutts Solicitors and has held multiple Board positions in organisations and groups such as the Law Society of NSW, Narellan Chamber of Commerce, the Camden Regional Economic Taskforce and Macarthur Skylarks Hockey Club.
She is also a passionate hockey participant, having supported, played and coached competitively for most of her life.
Adriana replaces current President Bianca Broadhurst, who did not stand for re-election. Current Vice President Julianne Plath was also re-elected for another term. Moving forward, Bianca will continue to serve on the Board after her recent re-election at the 2021 Annual General Meeting.
“I welcome the opportunity as the incoming president to continue to work for and with David and his dedicated staff to ensure Hockey NSW continues to grow and go from strength to strength,” said Adriana.
“I am also humbled and excited to be supported by and work with an amazing and diverse board that represents all facets of our game to keep pushing hockey to be the sport of choice for families.”
“Hockey has been part of my life since I was in primary school and has introduced me to life-long friends who have become part of my family and seen me grow. Hockey has influenced the way I operate personally and has introduced me to coaches, mentors and peers who have influenced my direction in life and corporate career.”
“It has also shaped the way I approach and tackle problems that arise, has taught me resilience, the importance of failing and the success of winning and achieving your goals no matter what your skill set may be or where you come from.”
“Hockey helped me assimilate with my school friends being a child of a migrant family. Hockey is, and still remains part of my family. From my children, and now to my husband, who has joined the hockey family as a coach and supporter of the game. Hockey is such a unique sport given it has the power to bring everyone together in the family, not just as a follower but as a participant no matter what age or skills.”
“This is my opportunity to thank and serve a major influencer in my life and give back to the game and continue to ensure our next generation coming through has the same opportunities that I have experienced and gained especially in this challenging environment that we are all experiencing.”
“Further, I look forward to working with our Associations and all the Clubs to deliver an inclusive and enjoyable hockey experience for all.”
Hockey NSW CEO David Thompson welcomes Adriana in the role and thanks Bianca for her service over the past year.
“I would like to congratulate Adriana on her appointment as President. She has been a very active member of our Board over the past two years and I’m looking forward to working with her, Julianne and the rest of our Board on our strategic priorities over the coming months and years,” said Thompson.
“I would also like to convey my sincere gratitude to Bianca for the tireless work and support she provided myself and the Board over the past year in her position as President. While it’s a shame to see her step back, we are grateful she still remains on the Board and can continue to serve our sport and members.”
