Information - AAAP Update

As you may be aware Hockey NSW has conducted AAAP for NSW athletes under the age of 21 in 3 centres across NSW for the last 2 years. Hockey NSW has recently undertaken an AAAP review with all athletes and coaches involved in the program. A decision has been made to take a different direction for the AAAP program with no weekly training environments provided but rather an increase in camp based approached development for all of the NSW Under 21 squad athletes. This change is due to a number of factors and Hockey NSW hope this new AAAP program structure leading into the National Under 21 Championships at Moorebank will provide suitable athlete development and success for NSW teams. If you do not have access to a suitable weekly training environment via your local club or other programs please contact Richard to discuss.

A further change to the AAAP program for 2020 will be the requirement for all athletes to participate in the NSW Open State Championships in Bathurst for women and Moorebank for men as the final selection event for the NSW 21 State and Blues teams. Hockey NSW will again be nominating 2 teams for the National 21 Championships.

I encourage you to take ownership of your individual development and preparation. The camp dates are below and all athletes should place these in their calendars as a priority to attend each session would be expected.

The NSW 21 team coaches will be released shortly and will have a lead role in the AAAP program and Hockey NSW will also add value with High Performance coaching and resources. As in previous year Hockey NSW partners in athlete development NSWIS will again support AAAP in 2020.

Team Announcement

This year we will be announcing the U21s Teams after the June Long Weekend Carnivals (Open Men & Open Women State Championships).

The official date is TBC, it will either be the 9th, 10th or 11th June 2020. Once confirmed athletes will be notified.
