Position Details

Head of Selectors

The Head of Selectors oversees the selection process for the NSW Women’s Masters State Teams, ensuring adherence to policies and maintaining fairness and transparency. They coordinate selection panels, facilitate decision-making, manage selection paperwork, and conduct pre-trial meetings. Responsibilities include finalising and submitting team lists, advising on goalkeeper selection, and forming a HNSW Blues team if required.

They liaise with coaches and the Women’s Masters Committee on player eligibility, injuries, and team adjustments leading up to the National Championships. Additionally, they provide leadership recommendations and ensure compliance with Hockey Australia and Hockey NSW policies while maintaining professional boundaries with trialists.

Independent Selectors

Selectors serve as independent panel members responsible for selecting the NSW Women’s Masters State Teams for the Australian Championships, ensuring compliance with selection policies and procedures. They finalise and submit team lists to the Head of Selectors, ensuring the correct number of players, including goalkeepers and shadow players, are selected and listed in alphabetical order. Selectors liaise with the Head of Selectors regarding out-of-age goalkeeper selections and may be instructed to name a HNSW Blues team if required.

They collaborate with the Head of Selectors, coaches, and fellow selectors on team adjustments due to injuries or withdrawals. At the conclusion of trials, they complete and submit all required selection and feedback sheets, providing clear and comprehensive evaluations, particularly for shadow and non-selected players. Selectors must adhere to Hockey Australia and Hockey NSW policies and maintain professional boundaries with trialists to ensure integrity, transparency, and fairness in the selection process.
